THE «RISING CRY», Chord Progression Featuring the French Augmented FIfth Chord, and rising by tones
Inspired by @EarlyMusicSources ' «The Most French Chord», here's a short video featuring six Augmented 5th French Chords [1,2,3], alternated with six dominant chords, raising by tones and harmonising a chromatic bass line. Shepard effect has been added. Tuning is 12-equal division of the octave. The augmented 5th chord is called «The Cry», after prof. Johannes Menke, quoted in [1]. #french #augmented #fifth #shepard #effect #cry REFERENCES: • [1] Early Music Source.com: The Most French Chord https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52qtxWyOOcs • [2] Jean-François Dandrieu, Principes de l'Acompagnement du Clavecin (Paris, 1718); • [3] Jean-Philippe Rameau, Traité de l'harmonie réduite à ses principes naturels (Paris, 1722)
